The Amberton Beach Bar and Kitchen (The Ambie) in Englinton, WA were designed as part of Stockland’s vision behind the Foreshore Precinct. The 500m2 development includes a beachfront bar and kitchen, changing rooms and bathrooms.
The Ambie takes advantage of its uninterrupted ocean views along the coastal dunes to the north and to the Alkimos shipwreck in the south. It is a beautiful venue with relaxing parks and interactive playgrounds located atop the sand dunes approx. 50m from the pristine waters, it has a close proximity to the Amberton beach. The Ambie is a wonderful place for the public and local community to gather at any time of the year. There are a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options, including a covered alfresco area on the western side of the building.
The design took inspiration from the variety of colours along the coastline. The selection of materials was inspired by pieces of burnt driftwood for the dark exterior cladding of the amenities building, which will fade and lighten over time and with weathering. The design incorporates a unique window system that can be opened on hot summer days but also be closed to provide protection from wind and weather, allowing the use of this space all year round.
