OUR DIFFERENCE

MODE's CONNECTED By Design representation

CONNECTED BY DESIGN is MODE's approach to creating better project outcomes through collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and regions.

Rather than working in isolation, our teams share knowledge across architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, master planning, and graphic design. Insights gained from projects in aviation, education, health, sport and recreation, commercial, hospitality, and infrastructure sectors help inform new opportunities and solutions across the practice.

This integrated approach enables MODE to uncover greater value throughout the design process, balancing user experience, operational performance, sustainability, commercial value, and long-term community benefit. By connecting people, places, ideas, and expertise, MODE creates environments that are thoughtful, adaptable, and enduring.

Why Multidisciplinary Design Matters

MODE's multidisciplinary structure enables specialists across architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, master planning, and graphic design to collaborate from the earliest stages of a project. This integrated approach helps identify opportunities sooner, resolve challenges more effectively, improve project coordination, and create better outcomes for clients, operators, users, and communities.

OUR STUDIO NETWORK

MODE operates through a network of nine studios across Australia and New Zealand, including Auckland, Brisbane, Christchurch, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth, Sunshine Coast, and Sydney.

This regional presence allows MODE to combine local knowledge with the expertise of more than 170 professionals working across architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, master planning, and graphic design. Through our Connected By Design approach, specialist knowledge and lessons learned are shared across the practice, enabling clients to access multidisciplinary expertise regardless of project location.

OUR DISCIPLINES

MASTER PLANNING & URBAN DESIGN

MODE’s Master Planning & Urban Design team develops long-term spatial frameworks for cities, precincts, and communities across Australia and New Zealand. Working closely with disciplines such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Wayfinding, the team creates connected, people-focused environments that guide sustainable growth, land use, and urban transformation.

By integrating insights from sectors including aviation, education, health, civic, and residential development, MODE ensures each master plan is grounded in real operational needs and future demand.

This multidisciplinary approach improves outcomes by aligning stakeholder vision, enhancing urban liveability, strengthening connectivity, and supporting long-term environmental and economic resilience.

ARCHITECTURE

MODE’s Architecture team designs environments that balance function, experience, and long-term value. Working in close collaboration with Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, and Wayfinding, the team delivers integrated solutions across aviation, education, health, sport and recreation, commercial, hospitality, civic, defence, transport, and multi-residential sectors.

Through Connected By Design, architectural outcomes are shaped by cross-sector knowledge and multidisciplinary input from the earliest stages of design.

This approach improves outcomes by enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening user experience, supporting commercial performance, and delivering adaptable, future-focused environments.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

MODE’s Landscape Architecture team creates outdoor environments that connect people, place, and climate. Working alongside Architecture, Urban Design, and Wayfinding, the team ensures landscape design is fully integrated into broader built environment strategies.

Projects span education, health, civic, public realm, and infrastructure, with a focus on resilience, accessibility, and ecological performance.

This multidisciplinary approach improves outcomes by strengthening environmental sustainability, improving wellbeing, enhancing public amenity, and creating meaningful connections between built and natural systems.

INTERIOR DESIGN

MODE’s Interior Design team creates environments that enhance the way people live, work, learn, and interact. Working closely with Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Wayfinding, the team ensures interior environments are fully integrated within the broader design vision.

Projects span workplace, education, health, hospitality, aviation, and residential sectors, with a strong focus on user experience, wellbeing, and adaptability.

This multidisciplinary approach improves outcomes by increasing productivity, improving comfort and usability, strengthening operational performance, and delivering spaces that respond to changing user needs over time.

GRAPHIC DESIGN & WAYFINDING

Working across Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design, and Landscape Architecture, the team ensures wayfinding and identity are embedded from project inception.

Projects include complex environments such as airports, hospitals, education campuses, civic precincts, and transport infrastructure.

This multidisciplinary approach improves outcomes by enhancing navigation, improving accessibility, strengthening identity, and creating clear, intuitive user experiences across complex environments.
