Mater Hospital Rockhampton Mercy Boyan Ward Refurbishment | Rockhampton, QLD

The project comprises of a major ward refurbishment to the Mercy Boyan building which involved the complete demolition and reinstatement of 44 single bed wards.

The works also included a full upgrade to mechanical services and modification and upgrade of other services to bring the building up to comply with current building standards.

The challenge of the project was to meet a very ambitious timeframe of 9 weeks over the Christmas period to reduce the downtime of the facility. In order to achieve this outcome, early works packages were released allowing initial works to commence prior to shutdown of the wards. In this period MODE worked closely with the builder to review and approve individual trade packages for the main contract to ensure project and budget control for the client.

This methodology as well as working closely with the hospital and builder allowed the team to achieve this deadline while producing an excellent result that fulfilled the expectations of the client.
