Housing QML’s main laboratory and corporate offices, this state-of-the-art 9,000sqm facility incorporates core and specialist laboratories, ancillary support facilities, maintenance, stores and corporate and administration facilities for QML’s evolving business presence in Queensland.

Inbuilt flexibility in the design and services allows for cost-effective changes to be accommodated in line with changes in technology and work practices in this constantly evolving scientific field.

MODE worked closely with QML to research and assess QML’s original premises and workflow, then redesigned a custom-built layout which segregated shared testing areas from specialist laboratories. This resulted in a reduction of total floor area by approximately 30%, while increasing throughput and maximising staff efficiency.

MODE were involved from the initial site evaluation and selection, all design and documentation phases, construction and commissioning.
