King Island Airport Terminal Expansion | King Island, TAS

The terminal at King Island Airport was at capacity and in need of an upgrade to accommodate an increase of visitors. MODE worked closely with King Island Council to deliver this exciting upgrade to one of Australia’s most remote tourist destinations.

As this project involved varied stakeholders, areas of specialisation, and needed to be designed to allow for continued operation during construction, we included a project design group –or THINK TANK - of highly specialised architects, designers and specialist consultants to contribute throughout the project.

In addition to the Think Tank, we had specific roles within the team to ensure continuity of information dissemination and coordination between the project design group, wider consultants and the client/user group. This was key to the success of the team due to the geographical location of design and consultant members being chosen for their associated expertise appropriate to this regional project.

The King Island Airport terminal upgrade was designed to optimise efficiencies for critical transport services to ensure that the provision of high quality airport services was maximised.
