Hillcrest Private Hospital Mental Health Unit | Rockhampton, QLD

The redevelopment established a dedicated mental health facility within an existing medical and surgical hospital environment, supporting the delivery of contemporary inpatient and outpatient services for the Central Queensland community.

An initial conversion of part of an existing ward to provide 12 in-patient beds and associated facilities (including out-patient facilities) was completed in 2012. The service provided was so successful, that MODE were engaged to design an additional custom extension of 16 beds and ancillary facilities contiguous with the existing unit.

The new extension was delivered by Design and Construct and included the new ward and internal upgrades to existing areas, including fire and smoke compartmentation. Works also included a discrete entry for patients and visitors, separate to the main Hospital entry.

The facility was completed in 2016 and provides contemporary facilities for the provision of private mental health services for the central Queensland population.
