EDGY | Springfield, QLD

The new Tertiary Education Building (EDGY) is part of the second phase of development for the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and will accommodate a further 350 fulltime tertiary students.

Designed to integrate and connect with both the developing infrastructure and existing buildings, including the main Building A which will be connected via a link bridge, the building will support innovative and digitally-connected learning environments. It will also include simulated learning and research spaces, enabling new offerings in education, allied health and nursing, film and television, engineering and construction.

Awarded a Six Star Green Star for its innovative design solution, the EDGY Building design focusses on key aspects: the establishment of a strong urban edge, visual connection of internal and external elements and innovation. Innovation was achieved through built form, mass and scale, reflective of the existing surrounding context, with the flexibility to facilitate future developments. This creates a sense of place envisioned by USQ for their Springfield Campus - a vision of research, learning, and gathering hubs for students and staff.
