The development is a mixture of 2-and 3-bedroom options is targeted at owner-occupiers, and MODE worked closely with Stockwell to design and deliver high quality and low maintenance resort-style living.
The residents will enjoy large floor plans, private rooftop communal facilities with swimming pool, outdoor dining, and key planting with edible gardens throughout, encouraging retreat and relaxation outdoors. The design response celebrates sub-tropical living on the river with an emphasis on outdoor living by incorporating planting and landscaping to soften the buildings edges.
This development intentionally reflects on the historical industrial heritage of the precinct and the intrinsic social value the river has within the community. Brick elements along the street frontage and base of the building keeps the development in conjunction with deep planting.
The façade of the building has been designed to achieve a visual reduction in building bulk and scale. Canter levering balcony edges incorporate screening elements for privacy and garden planters for vertical amenity. Precast balconies extend down below the slab edges to provide an increase in privacy and gives a balanced design around screening devices to habitable bedrooms on adjoining neighbours. The design has also sought to minimise the use of protruding screening structures on the side elevations, through use of high level windows 1.8m above floor level.
“Responding to our client’s vision of life on the river, we developed a scheme that maximised the potential of the wide building frontage by creating expansive outdoor living spaces that draw in the landscape.” - David Kelly, Associate Director
