The Y Schools Queensland, Redlands Junior Campus - Victoria Point

Empowering young people to thrive through wellbeing-centred education.

MODE was engaged as Principal Consultant, Architect, Interior Designer and Landscape Architect for Y Schools Queensland’s new Redlands Junior Campus. A purpose-built learning environment designed to nurture wellbeing, connection and confidence in young people.

Building on a long-standing partnership that began in 2017, MODE has collaborated with The Y Queensland (formerly YMCA Queensland) to deliver a series of schools across South East Queensland and Bundaberg, each reflecting the organisation’s mission to create safe, supportive, and empowering education spaces.

A Campus Designed Around Connection and Growth

Master planned to sit harmoniously alongside The Y Queensland’s existing aquatic centre, indoor sports facility and community church, the Redlands Junior Campus expands the Victoria Point site into a complete Years 7–12 learning community.

The single-storey building stretches along the rear of the site, making full use of its northerly aspect to maximise natural light and natural ventilation throughout the learning environments.
The campus includes a community multi-purpose hall, outdoor play and landscaped areas, general learning spaces, and a series of specialised facilities such as a kitchen, barista training zone and trade workshops, offering hands-on pathways that support both academic and vocational learning.

Celebrating Community and Culture

The official opening was held on 10 October 2025, beginning with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country led by the Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dance Company, followed by a ribbon cutting by Julie-Ann Campbell MP and Heather Allan, President and Board Chair of Y Queensland.

This event marked another milestone in MODE’s ongoing collaboration with The Y Queensland, celebrating the organisation’s commitment to wellbeing-centred education and creating places where young people can thrive.
