The Forefront, Creative Co-working Space
Designed to support a thriving ecosystem of entrepreneurs, start-ups, creatives, and scale-ups, the $5.9 million project reflects a bold vision for how workspaces can inspire collaboration, innovation, and connection.
Spanning 1,172 square metres over two levels, The Forefront offers a suite of versatile workspaces for up to 170 professionals. Amenities include private meeting rooms, breakout zones, event spaces, and a communal kitchen, all housed within a contemporary warehouse-inspired form that promotes flexibility and productivity.
Situated adjacent to the Brisbane River and within walking distance of Eat Street Northshore, The Forefront is a key element of the $12 billion Northshore Hamilton Priority Development Area—a major urban renewal initiative led by Economic Development Queensland (EDQ). As part of this transformation, the project sets a benchmark for integrating adaptive design with vibrant placemaking.
MODE led the architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture, creating a cohesive and high-performing environment through a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach. Guided by our CONNECTED BY DESIGN philosophy, the building’s materiality, spatial layout, and landscape elements work together to elevate user comfort, encourage interaction, and support long-term wellbeing. The warehouse-style aesthetic is softened through bespoke interior detailing and a landscaped forecourt that promotes openness and connection to place.
Built by Bridgeman, a Supply Nation-certified Indigenous builder, the project places an emphasis on Indigenous engagement and supplier inclusion—aligning with Northshore’s vision to deepen cultural connections as the precinct takes shape. The doors officially opened on Thursday 19th June.
In the months and years ahead, The Forefront will host workshops, pitch nights, networking events, and mentorship programs, helping to shape the next generation of Queensland’s creative and tech industries. As a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable addition to Northshore Brisbane, The Forefront stands as a lasting legacy of growing enterprise.
