The Rockhampton Rehabilitation Facility (Binbi Yadubay) | Rockhampton, QLD

The Rockhampton Rehabilitation Facility is a purpose-built, multifunctional drug and alcohol treatment facility that will provide residential rehabilitation and residential withdrawal management for adults.

The facility also includes non-residential rehabilitation for young people, which is available through the delivery of an intensive day program. The residential rehabilitation buildings provide supportive, nurturing environments to enhance patients’ therapeutic outcomes, by creating varied opportunities for structured and ad-hoc support and therapy. Providing a range of environments enables the treatment providers to tailor programs to suit individual support needs.

The facility is structured around an open central courtyard space which houses the communal facilities with levels of privacy that radiate outward from this space. This arrangement of space allows patrons to choose the level of interaction they are comfortable with.

The architecture and landscape are designed to create a sense of community and connectedness within the facility. The placement of the administration and recreation facilities on the crest of the hill provides effective passive surveillance for staff over the facility.

A children’s playground forms the central focus of the family facility, adopting similar principles of Community planning allowing passive surveillance for staff and parents. The family area is located in its own discrete area, separated from adult accommodation.
