Queensland Eye Institute Day Surgery & Research Facility | Woolloongabba, QLD

MODE provided full architectural and interior design consultancy services for the Queensland Eye Institute (QEI) redevelopment at Woolloongabba.

The development included a new Day Surgery and Central Sterile Department (CSD), specialist consulting suites, corporate offices, and a research laboratory. MODE delivered services from concept design through documentation and construction, working within a D&C procurement model.

Our team collaborated closely with clinical stakeholders to confirm patient flows, surgical functionality, and operational requirements. The resulting design integrates clinical care, research, and administration, enhancing QEI’s capacity to provide specialist health services and advance ophthalmic research.

“MODE think strategically, they deliver a client focused quality product that ensures compliance with current legislation and standards. The team listen and adapt to suit changing requirements and needs. Each interaction is professional, and they understand the project and deliver a high quality solution. Industry knowledge is impressive. In all interactions they have understood the scope, delivered high quality designs and documentation and provided innovative and efficient recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness for us. Impressive understanding and relationships with industry leaders for the recommendation and scoping of equipment and service requirements.”
