Palmerston Water Park | Palmerston, NT
As a multidisciplinary practice, MODE led the master planning, documentation and construction of this project in consultation with both the government and public throughout its development.
The silhouette of water slides and waves of water is continued throughout the park, as seen in the form of the picnic shelters and ablutions facility. The Palmerston Water Park is proof that picnic shelters and ablutions facilities don’t have to hide in the background and can positively contribute to the desired atmosphere of an environment.
The overall result is a vibrant activity centre with slides, spray parks, barbecue facilities, cafés, life guard stations and games areas. All this takes place in an environmental setting that respects the indigenous Larrakia people and expresses an environmental awareness of the native flora and fauna.
