Joseph Crescent Community Facilities | Deception Bay, QLD

The Joseph Crescent Community Facilities project delivers a new community-focused destination within the evolving Deception Bay foreshore precinct.

Positioned on the former DPI Fisheries site adjacent to the Deception Bay Conservation Park, the project was designed to support community connection, education, and environmental engagement within a highly accessible public setting.

Delivered for the City of Moreton Bay, the facility forms part of a broader precinct revitalisation strategy aimed at transforming the waterfront into an active and inclusive recreational and community hub. The project provides a flexible and adaptable environment capable of supporting a wide range of community programs, gatherings, and educational activities.

The design centres around a contemporary pavilion-style building that strengthens the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Flexible meeting areas, communal facilities, covered outdoor gathering spaces, and landscaped public interfaces create an environment that encourages interaction, accessibility, and year-round use. A strong emphasis was placed on creating welcoming and inclusive spaces that respond to both the natural setting and the operational needs of community users.

Material selections and architectural expression draw from the surrounding coastal context, with durable low-maintenance finishes designed to support long-term resilience within the waterfront environment. Extensive glazing, shaded outdoor areas, and integrated landscape elements enhance natural ventilation, daylight access, and visual connection to the surrounding parklands.

Developed through a collaborative approach with council and stakeholders, the project reflects MODE’s commitment to creating connected civic environments that support community wellbeing, adaptability, and long-term social value
