Guildford Aquatic Centre | Guildford, NSW
The project replaces an ageing 50-year-old facility that has reached the end of its serviceable life, establishing a contemporary aquatic centre that supports community use and long-term performance.
Located within a residential setting, the design responds to both its immediate context and its role as a key piece of local infrastructure. A low-scale, carefully articulated built form allows the facility to sit comfortably within its surroundings while maintaining a clear civic presence.
The centre is organised around a series of indoor and outdoor aquatic environments, including a learn-to-swim pool, 6-lane indoor pool, 8-lane outdoor pool and a children’s splash play area. Supporting facilities include amenities, changerooms, an arrival hall and back-of-house spaces, with a generous internal volume that accommodates seating and food and beverage areas.
Sustainability is a key driver of the project, with approximately 1,000m² of rooftop solar panels contributing to daytime energy demand and reducing operational costs, particularly for filtration systems.
The Guildford Aquatic Centre establishes a clear and contemporary community facility. Through a considered approach to planning, form and environmental performance, the project delivers a resilient and adaptable asset for the local community.
