Dion brings more than 30 years of experience in architecture, design and project leadership, with expertise spanning sports, recreation and community infrastructure, aviation, infrastructure, workplace, residential, masterplanning and strategic project planning.
His career has been grounded in the design of sports and recreation environments, where understanding the needs of athletes, administrators, operators, communities and commercial partners has shaped a highly collaborative and people-focused approach to design. Dion has worked with international organisations including FIH and FIFA, alongside government, councils, regional sporting bodies, institutions and commercial clients across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
This experience has translated into broader leadership across complex projects and multidisciplinary design teams. Dion leads projects from early feasibility, business case and masterplanning through design, documentation and delivery, bringing together architecture, interiors, landscape, specialist consultants and key stakeholders. His current work extends across aviation and major infrastructure, sports and community facilities, workplace environments and residential projects.
A thought leader in sustainable and socially responsive design, Dion co-founded Third Place Thinking™, exploring how architecture and infrastructure can create lasting value beyond the physical building. His approach considers how places operate, how people experience them and how investment in the built environment can contribute to stronger communities and better long-term social outcomes.
Dion's leadership extends beyond individual projects to the leadership of design practice itself. The principles developed through sport — teamwork, preparation, communication, resilience and creating the conditions for people to perform — continue to inform how he leads project teams, builds client relationships and develops collaborative studio culture.
With a strong understanding of design, project delivery and stakeholder environments, Dion brings together strategic thinking and practical project leadership. His focus is on creating places that balance functional, commercial and operational requirements with design ambition, community value and enduring outcomes.
