Located within the Oceanside Health Hub and opposite Sunshine Coast University Hospital, the brand new $14 million Wishlist Centre project is an innovative facility providing transitionary accommodation and supportive health and well-being services for patients, their families, and the community.
In collaboration with Wishlist and Hutchinson Builders, MODE delivered Stage 1 of the Wishlist Centre at Birtinya as a key health infrastructure project for the Sunshine Coast community.
Wishlist’s vision was to create a ‘Home Away From Home’ environment for those undergoing treatment or transitioning between hospital and community care. Despite its close proximity to the hospital, the design focused on creating a clear sense of separation from clinical environments, supporting comfort, dignity and a sense of normality for occupants.
The design prioritised access to natural light, outlook and passive environmental strategies to support a healing environment. Spaces for health education, research, local health providers, community programs and events contribute to a broader, economically sustainable model that supports holistic patient recovery and wellbeing.
