Sydney Mater Hospital Oncology Ward | Sydney, NSW

MODE worked closely with GenesisCare to deliver a new oncology ward within Sydney Mater Hospital.

The project includes four consultation rooms, clean and dirty utilities, two radiation bunkers, a CT scanner with associated control rooms, staff offices, staff breakout spaces, and patient and visitor front-of-house waiting areas and amenities.

MODE’s design approach focused on creating a bright, calm, and welcoming environment for both patients and staff. In response to limited access to natural daylight, the interior uses curved walls and continuous joinery to create a sense of flow and cohesion. A soft, warm colour palette, complemented by green accents and biophilic design principles, supports wellbeing and comfort within a highly technical clinical setting.
