Port Macquarie Airport | Port Macquarie, NSW
Port Macquarie–Hastings Council adopted a Master Plan for the Airport in June 2010, which provides the framework and strategic direction to guide the future operation and development of the Airport to underpin the region’s economic development and tourism potential.
The primary objective and focus of the upgrade was to expand/renovate the existing Terminal facility to maximise the floor area of the building (within budgetary constraints), and increase the functionality and capacity. This will improve the current level of service provided to customers and the community and to cater for forecast increase in airline services and passenger numbers over time.
MODE has implemented principles of value management / engineering and cost effectiveness throughout this project to enable the client to achieve an IATA LOS Optimun standard on budget. The secondary objective is to ensure that as the ‘gateway’ to the region, the upgraded Terminal Building is symbolic for the local community.
The $10 million project, which delivered a new and expanded Terminal building for the community, was achieved ahead of schedule and with minimal disruption to day-to-day Airport operations.
The building was designed with the Council’s Vision “Creating a vibrant future” and “customer-centred” focus in mind and delivers a quality passenger experience from arrival through to departure creating a lasting impression for visitors to the region.
