ReDefined Wellbeing Hub

MODE is delivering the interior design for ReDefined Takapuna, an integrated wellbeing hub that brings together movement, recovery and health services within a single destination. The project establishes a cohesive environment that supports a holistic approach to wellbeing, combining physical activity, restoration and community use.

Located within Takapuna’s coastal setting, the project responds to a growing demand for spaces that support both high-performance training and everyday wellbeing. The brief called for a facility that could accommodate a diverse range of uses while maintaining clarity of movement and a strong sense of identity throughout.

The design is structured around a clear spatial gradient, transitioning from high-energy performance areas to quieter, restorative environments. This organisation allows different programmes to operate simultaneously while supporting an intuitive user journey across the facility.

Spaces for high-intensity training, reformer pilates and open gym activities are balanced with recovery suites, allied health consult rooms and areas for mind–body practices. Circulation is carefully resolved to provide clarity between these zones, reinforcing both separation and connection where required.

Material selection draws on the landscapes of Aotearoa, with natural textures and warm tones creating a consistent interior language. This approach supports a calm and grounded environment, while maintaining durability and performance across high-use areas.

Community-focused elements, including shared amenities and an outdoor café, extend the use of the facility beyond fitness, supporting social interaction and longer-term engagement.

ReDefined Takapuna brings together multiple wellbeing functions within a single, integrated environment. Through a considered approach to planning, materiality and user experience, the project supports a more connected model of health and wellbeing, where movement, recovery and community are aligned within a cohesive spatial framework.
