This three-storey, 1,200m² mixed-use hospitality venue includes a beer garden, family dining area, cocktail bar, gaming room, sports bar and nightclub, with an adaptable upper-level event space accommodating up to 180 people.
The design creates a cohesive experience inspired by the Northern Territory landscape, immersing users in layered interpretations of the outback environment.
Each level reflects a different stage of the landscape journey. The basement evokes the atmosphere of a secluded gorge waterhole, while the ground floor — including the gaming room and covered beer garden — mimics moving through filtered light and resting points found within the bush. The upper level contrasts this with a clean, contemporary and flexible event space that feels elevated above the landscape below.
Innovative materials and detailing strengthen the project’s connection to place. Stone elements within the main bar reference the rugged forms of natural rock formations, while a movable rope screen acts as both a shading device and atmospheric feature, creating a star-like effect at night and transforming the beer garden experience as light changes throughout the day.
