Gladstone East Shores Parklands | Gladstone, QLD
Gladstone East Shores 1B is the second phase of rehabilitation parkland works for the Port of Gladstone.
The GPC board provided the visionary mandate for the project of providing social license to the people of Gladstone. This was to occur through the rehabilitation of the current Port land into urban parklands and support infrastructure, connecting the people of Gladstone to the waterfront.
Current infrastructure including barge, ship loading conveyor, HMAS Gladstone and numerous heritage artefacts have been preserved for reuse on site. These include vessels and facilities that pay homage to the calcite piles and infrastructure that once operated on the site.
HMAS Gladstone is birthed on the edge of the site and has been refurbished for educational purposes. GPC has a series of historical reference books that document the Port’s history and this information is to form the brief for the port interpretation centre which is to be designed into an existing building on site.
We’re thrilled to have been part of this important regional project delivering the waterfront cafe ‘Auckland House’, amenities, BBQ and picnic shelters, the cruise terminal plaza
