CDU Trade Training Centre | Casuarina, NT
MODE and Charles Darwin University’s project managers have delivered the new trade training centre to house the training for electrotechnology, refridgeration, instrumentation and plumbing disciplines, delivering vocational training courses.
The facility caters to students from across the Northern Territory in electrotechnology, refrigeration, instrumentation and plumbing disciplines, delivering Vocational Education and Training courses. The facility sits comfortably within the CDU Casuarina campus whilst having an identifiable presence through the careful use of bold colours and features that have a significance to the students who use the building.
A central common space is flanked on either side to purpose built workshops, labs, classrooms and technology areas. The workshops are naturally ventilated and are orientated to take full advantage of the sea breezes and reduce running costs for the university.
The interior drew inspiration from safety colours and an industrial feel, allowing students to study and relax in a contemporary space.
