MODE expands New Zealand presence with new Christchurch studio
MODE is pleased to announce the opening of a new studio in Christchurch, strengthening the practice’s presence in New Zealand and supporting growing demand across the South Island.
The Christchurch studio marks an important milestone for MODE, becoming the practice’s second location in New Zealand and ninth studio globally. The expansion also aligns with two significant milestones for the practice, MODE’s 35th year of operation and 15 years working across New Zealand.
Establishing a studio in Christchurch reflects MODE’s long-term commitment to the region and the continued growth of its project portfolio and client relationships across the country. Positioned in the heart of Christchurch’s central city on Oxford Terrace, the new studio will enhance MODE’s ability to work closely with clients, communities and project partners throughout the South Island while strengthening its national presence.
The Christchurch studio will support projects across a diverse range of sectors including Aviation, Commercial, Education, Health, Law & Order, Residential, and Sport & Recreation. The team will deliver integrated services spanning Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design and Graphic Design, including wayfinding, drawing on the strength of MODE’s multidisciplinary expertise.
MODE’s New Zealand operations are led by Daniel Chan, supported by Peter Mildenhall based in Auckland. The Christchurch studio currently comprises four staff and is already growing, with new roles planned as demand continues to expand across the region.
As part of MODE’s wider international network of more than 150 staff, the Christchurch team will work collaboratively with specialists across multiple studios and disciplines. This connected model enables the sharing of knowledge, technical capability and sector experience across projects of varying scale and complexity, reflecting MODE’s CONNECTED By Design approach.
Daniel Chan said the opening of the Christchurch studio reflects both the maturity of MODE’s work in New Zealand and the opportunities emerging across the South Island.
“Over the past 15 years we have developed strong relationships and a growing body of work across New Zealand. Establishing a Christchurch studio allows us to be closer to our clients and communities while combining strong local knowledge with the experience and capability of our wider studio network.”
The Christchurch studio reinforces MODE’s long-term commitment to New Zealand and positions the practice to support the evolving needs of clients across the region for years to come.
