The Essington School acquired the three story ex-government office building on the neighboring site for utilisation, and MODE tranformed it into The Essington Education Centre.
Client: The Essington School
Location: Darwin, NT
MODE were commissioned to add a lift, external treatment and interior design of the new administration and teaching spaces. The brutalist form of the building was uninviting and not welcoming as a school building MODE introduced vibrant colours and window treatments to integrate the building with the existing campus and allow the school to read as one recognisable ‘image’ that is The Essington School. The deep footprint of the building allowed for large teaching spaces. Glass internal partitions to the central circulation space allow light to penetrate deep into the building.
